The power of a diva

Soprano Anna Netrebko was born in Russia, and she also holds Austrian citizenship. She is one of the greatest operatic singers, with an unwavering career and international acclaim far and wide. Her calling began when she was discovered by Valeri Gergiev, director of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. As a result, an intense career has made her one of the grand voices in opera. She frequents the principal theatres of the world, accompanied by the most important conductors of our times, interpreting an array of characters from lyrical heroines of Bel Canto to the iconic dramatic roles of the repertoire, making her a veritable spinto lyric soprano. In each interpretation of every role, she gives a powerful and passionate performance of unequalled interpretation. She always detects the multiple and exact psychological readings in each interpretation and this has permitted the Russian soprano to portray an immense range of characters and tessituras: Mozart, Bel Canto composers, Verdi, Puccini, Verista composers and even Tchaikovsky, Wagner and Strauss.

No less important is her dimension as a recital soloist in the most important auditoriums such as Carnegie Hall, Teatro alla Scala of Milan, the Musikverein of Vienna or the Philharmonie of Berlin, accompanied by the most renowned pianists.

Precisely for this reason, and thanks to the versatility of her voice, in this debut recital at the Teatro de la Maestranza, Anna Netrebko will perform from a musical kaleidoscope of composers such as Nikolái Rimski-Kórsakov, Serguéi Rajmáninov or Pyotr Ilyich Chaikovski. In short, her concert will be a tribute to great Russian composers with the collaboration of pianist Pavel Nebolsin and mezzosoprano Elena Maximova as guest artist. An altruistic mother, Netrebko is an ardent defender of causes to support disadvantaged children via various associations she has supported throughout the years.
