More Yuja than ever

Pianist Yuja Wang is considered one of the most serious interpreters in the world today, daring and obsessively committed to perfection in her interpretations. Named artist of the year by Musical America in 2017, she received the 2021 Opus Klassik Award for her recording of the world premiere of a concerto by John Adam under conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Born in Beijing, she received advanced training in Canada and at the Curtis Institute of Music under Gary Graffman. Her name was consolidated in March 2007 as soloist with the Boston Symphony orchestra, replacing the indisputable Martha Argerich.

Enamoured by challenges, Wang was the star of the Rachmaninoff marathon at Carnegie Hall in a tribute to the Russian composer for his 150th anniversary in 2023.

Yuja Wang comes to Seville as part of an international tour throughout North America, Europe and Asia. For her performance she will be accompanied by the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. This orchestra was founded by Claudio Abbado in 1997 and is considered an example, not only for its brilliant sound but also for the way it is organised. With musicians representing 27 nationalities, residing in different parts of the world, the MCO plays to audiences in 40 countries across five continents. The orchestra maintains residencies in important halls and festivals such Carnegie Hall, Southbank Centre, Lucerne Festival, Mozartwoche Salzburg and the Festival de Saint-Denis.

Her endorsement of new technologies and an unfailing interest to refresh her programmes and accompanists has made Yuja Wang one of the most important figures of classical music in the 21st century.
