From Mozart to Bruckner

An unparalleled name as a pianist and conductor, Christoph Eschenbach is undoubtedly one of the most renowned conductors in the world. Karajan fuelled the beginnings of a career that catapulted him to a future with some of the most famous symphony orchestras of the planet. His acclaimed recordings with orchestras where he has been their director, such as the Tonhalle -Orchester Zürich, NDR Symphonieorchester, Philadelphia Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Orchestre de París or the Washington National Symphony Orchestra, has made Eschenbach a bastion of the grand Germanic and Viennese tradition, seen by the programme he presents at the Teatro de la Maestranza: the overture of Don Giovanni by Mozart -a most significant title in the immense arsenal of operas inspired by Seville- , together with one of the pinnacles of Anton Bruckner’s music, his impressive Fifth Symphony.

Skill and youth join hands for a demanding and monumental programme, between the brilliant projection of the Youth Orchestra of Andalusia and the consistency of a conductor. With a passionate pedagogical vocation, Eschenbach has supported programmes for youth orchestras throughout his long life, and advanced the stunning careers of, among others, Renée Fleming, Matthias Goerne and Lang Lang.
