The legendary choir, a national treasure

More than seven centuries in the history of a choir that is a World Heritage. These hundred voices reach an audience of half a million every year and the formation is inscribed in the “UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage” Austrian inventory.

This is the Vienna Boys Choir. With the Philharmonic and members of the chorus of the State Opera of this same city, it performs in the weekly Sunday masses of the Imperial Chapel, just as it has have done for the last 525 years.

It has sung with orchestras and directors of the likes of Jansons, Mehta, Muti, Thielemann or Young. It performs at the New Years concert of Vienna. We have seen it on the stage, at the cinema, in television recordings. Since the beginning of the 20th century, this beloved choral group is part of our living memory. Many of the choristers further their musical education, among them, Gerald Wirth. He was appointed Artistic Director in 2001 and President of this renowned institution in 2013.

This Austrian national treasure comes to Sevilla with a programme that pays tribute to Johann Strauss and his contemporaries. Of chapels and cathedrals. Of palaces and the city streets. Of musical scores and folk tradition.

The most beautiful music for the most beautiful voices. The most famous choir in the whole world that we all must hear at least once in a lifetime. A unique experience. An unforgettable performance.
