Mightier than ever, as free as a bird

We are off to a Romería with Rodrigo Cuevas. Tradition and cutting edge. Heterodoxy as an accomplice to legacy. And joy. A voice that invites us to dance with the recipient of the 2023 Premio Nacional de Música (National Music Prize).

A concert by Rodrigo Cuevas brings together the essential being of past and present. It summons us. And opens its arms to multiple emotions of fiesta, nostalgia, and hope. The wisdom of common folks that sing.

The absolute beauty of simplicity and sophistication, to be part of this moment, now and forever. Yesterday and tomorrow, with the power of today to connect the two. A kaleidoscope of time and colours. A Romería that he has performed in Mexico and Portugal, in France and Belgium, in the meadow of his native Oviedo, and at the Liceu of Barcelona.

A courageous musician. One who is enamoured of his land which are all lands. Humour, social critique, gibber and Spanish, insolence and elegance. Manual for Liberty. Manual of Romería. Manual for life.

Siempre arribita. How we are, when we are. Como ye la vida.

Mightier than ever, as free as a bird. The harmonies, pulsating rhythms, and folkloric accents of Rodrigo Cuevas beckon us, once more, to a programme that is the most vanguard and the most traditional, to a voice of a creative artist that is always magnetic.
