Discovering talent

In a season replete with milestones and celebration, the competition “Certamen Nuevas Voces” salutes 20 years of discovering talented new voices. Each year the list of candidates expands and culminates in a gala programme full of emotion and promise.

This is an opportunity for young singers. It is also the moment for the audience, as exceptional guests, to witness incipient careers. Which will delight in the coming years. Which will make us happy in the genesis of their art.

It has been twenty years since the Seville Association of Friends of the Opera (Asociación Sevillana de Amigos de la Ópera / ASAO) launched an exciting adventure. An initiative of bringing opera closer to younger generations and awakening vocation.

The Gala is open to the general public, admission is free, and the only requisite is an eagerness to discover beauty.

Those who attend will share with the jury – made up of relevant names in the world of vocal music - the excitement of discovering today’s voices and the awakening of tomorrow’s artistry.

The Certamen Nuevas Voces is proud to have been the driving force behind the indisputable careers of Leonor Bonilla, Berna Perles, Natalia Labourdette, Damián del Castillo or Carmen Buendía. Seville as a catalyst for upcoming talent.
