20th anniversary concert

A traditional ritual for the end of the year

A ritual becomes a tradition when it is part of the most luminous calendar date in our lives. We celebrate the end of 2024 with a date which is a ritual and an annual tradition.

The orchestra of the Barenboim- Said Foundation bids farewell to the year in its customary appearance at the Teatro de la Maestranza, and this year, it also celebrates its 20th anniversary. Two reasons to commemorate the occasion with its audience.

On the programme is Berlioz, Mendelssohn and Brahms. The orchestra will be conducted by one of the leading women of today’s musical scene, Ukranian maestra Oksana Lyniv, in this debut appearance in Seville. Musical director of the Teatro Comunale of Bolonia, Lyniv is the first woman to have directed at the prestigious Wagnerian Bayreuth Festival in its more than 140 years history. She is also the first woman to head an Italian opera house.

For this concert, Michael Barenboim appears as the violin soloist after having performed in Berlin, Vienna, London or Los Angeles, under conductor Gustavo Dudamel. He is the concert master of the Orquesta West-Eastern Divan, professor of chamber music at the Barenboim-Said Akademie of Berlin and violin professor at the Fundación Barenboim-Said which is based in Seville.

The most wonderful way to say good-bye to one year and welcome the next. To salute new feelings. Always with the emotional and radiant impact that music makes on our lives.
