When instruments tell stories

Many generations have discovered classical music thanks to the musical story by Prokofiev, the magical formula that engages the audience with the sounds of an orchestra while listening to one of the most wonderful stories of folk literature.

The adventure of Peter and the Wolf was used by the composer Prokofiev to transform the orchestra in a chorus where each instrument played a particular role. He constructed a story full of emotion and suspense. The characters are each presented with their own voice - the violins and violas for Pedro, the bassoon for the grandfather, the French horns for the wolf, or the flute for the bird. The hunters are the timpani and the bass drum. The orchestra is the narrator of a story that has a bit of everything: apprehension and happiness, togetherness and solitude. Anticipation and a happy ending.

Open your eyes to see. Close them to dream. And never stop listening. For this spectacle by Prokofiev, all the audience needs is the curious intelligence of children to thoroughly enjoy a most beautiful piece.
