After a year in the shadow of the pandemic, the Maestranza invites its spectators to come on stage. Because the stage reunites and brings us together. It makes us feel more connected and stronger than ever. Because to come on stage is to join a community, participate, take the initiative, to set ourselves in motion and move forward.

On its 30th anniversary, the Teatro de la Maestranza blossoms afresh with a new corporate image and logo along with a campaign which strives to communicate the power of music and singing for restoring hope and energy in a season marked by a global health crisis.

For this season, as we approach the celebration of the Maestranza’s first 30 years, a leader in successfully programming some of the best offerings of opera and concerts in Spain, the theatre is energized, rejuvenated and revitalized. The exciting season had to be cancelled in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

The premiere in Spain of Der Diktator (The Dictator) by Ernst Krenek in a double bill with Der Kaiser von Atlantis (The Emperor of Atlantis) by Viktor Ullmann, the 25th anniversary concert of the Orquesta Joven Andalucía (Youth Orchestra of Andausia), the subscription series of the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra (ROSS) with a music and literature theme, or the Gala of the European Film Awards are part of this wide ranging season.

The Maestranza revives Fidelio, its own production of Beethoven’s only opera, an ode to fraternity; the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra (ROSS) pays tribute to conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein in the centenary of his birth, and the Spanish National Dance Company (CND) performs Don Quijote to the music of Ludwig Minkus.
