2019-2020

For this season, as we approach the celebration of the Maestranza’s first 30 years, a leader in successfully programming some of the best offerings of opera and concerts in Spain, the theatre is energized, rejuvenated and revitalized. The exciting season had to be cancelled in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

2018-2019

The premiere in Spain of Der Diktator (The Dictator) by Ernst Krenek in a double bill with Der Kaiser von Atlantis (The Emperor of Atlantis) by Viktor Ullmann, the 25th anniversary concert of the Orquesta Joven Andalucía (Youth Orchestra of Andausia), the subscription series of the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra (ROSS) with a music and literature theme, or the Gala of the European Film Awards are part of this wide ranging season.

2017-2018

The Maestranza revives Fidelio, its own production of Beethoven’s only opera, an ode to fraternity; the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra (ROSS) pays tribute to conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein in the centenary of his birth, and the Spanish National Dance Company (CND) performs Don Quijote to the music of Ludwig Minkus.

2016-2017

With the motto “Somos Maestranza” (We are the Maestranza) this season includes the operas Tannhäuser, La bohème, The Magic Flute and Anna Bolena, as well as Un avvertimento ai gelosi by Manuel García.

2015-2016

Artistic excellence and a balance between tradition and modernity with four operas: the powerful premiere in Spain of Der König Kandaules (King Kandaules) by Alexander Zemlinsky, as well as Otello by Verdi and L’elisir d’amore by Donizetti. A highlight is the 200th anniversary celebration of The Barber of Seville with the participation of the theatre chorus: Coro de la A.A. del Maestranza. The National Ballet of Spain stands out in the Dance Series.
