2009-2010

The Maestranza continues a trajectory which defines its personality and makes the theatre a frame of reference. During this season there is a focus on opera titles which have never been heard before in Spain such as Die schweigsame Frau (The Silent Woman) by Richard Strauss.

2008-2009

Having completed the expansion, renovations and technical modernization of the scenic space, the season marks the beginning of a new era where it is possible to perform operas, concerts and other shows almost simultaneously. Opera and symphonic music are the backbone of a wide and diverse programming.

2007-2008

The leitmotif of this season centres on heroes, myths and legends. The premieres in Spain of two operas by composer Alexander von Zemlinsky: Eine Florentinische Tragödie, (A Florentine Tragedy) and Der Zwerg, (The Dwarf) places the Seville theatre high on the list once again.

2006-2007

A programming where the night and its mystery, dreams and the cosmos, are the themes for this season. Once again -and since 1995- graphic designer Manuel Ortiz provides the visual concepts for a season which includes the premiere in Spain of Der Ferne Klang (The Distant Sound) by Franz Schreker.

2005-2006

The objective of the expansion of the theatre which began in 2005 -to equip the Maestranza with a stage for the 21st century- is to attract new audiences along with consolidating the existing ones. Of note is the importance of in- house productions like La sonnambula. .
